AFQT

Armed Forces Qualification Test

AFQT = Arithmetic Reasoning + Mathematics Knowledge + 2 × Verbal Expression (Word Knowledge + Paragraph Comprehension), reported as a 1–99 percentile. With a high school diploma, the minimum AFQT score is 31 for the Army, Marine Corps, and Air Force, and 32 for the Coast Guard. The Navy and Space Force require a qualifying score but do not publish the number online, so ask a recruiter. GED holders face a higher bar; the Air Force, for example, requires 50. A higher AFQT score expands your job options and may qualify you for enlistment bonuses.
