Fort Hood soldiers can now spend their meal entitlement at on-post restaurants
The Army's Flexible Eating and Expanded Dining program, called FEED, launched at Fort Hood, Texas, on Nov. 3. Soldiers on the meal plan scan their military ID and pick approved items at seven Exchange restaurants in the food court, including Subway, Starbucks and Charleys Cheesesteaks. Fort Stewart, Georgia, started the same option in August.
Why it matters to you IN DEP
After basic training, most single junior soldiers live in the barracks and eat on a meal entitlement instead of getting a cash food allowance. The Army says it is in the middle of a generational overhaul of how it feeds soldiers, and more choice is where that is heading. Parents, this is one honest answer to the question of what your kid will eat.
